Cheddar Cheese Popovers

A light, airy popover with a cheesy crust. Although it calls for Cheddar, this recipe allows you to easily swap your favorite Crystal Farms Cheese for the same delicious outcome!


  • 3 tbsps Crystal Farms® Butter, unsalted
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 ¼ cups whole milk
  • 1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp kosher salt
  • 3 tbsps Crystal Farms® Butter, unsalted, melted
  • 3 oz Crystal Farms Shredded Cheddar Cheese


  • Preheat oven to 375° F.
  • Grease a muffin pan with 3 tablespoons of butter.
  • Heat milk to 125 °F and reserve.
  • In a mixing bowl, beat eggs for 2 minutes or until the yolks and whites are thoroughly mixed. Add milk and continue to mix.
  • Add flour and salt to the egg mixture and gently mix until combined. Do not over mix; it is okay to have lumps in the batter.
  • Add 3 tablespoons of melted butter to the batter and incorporate.
  • Add 2 ounces of batter to each muffin slot. Add ½ ounce of shredded Cheddar cheese to each battered tin. Top each muffin tin with 2 ounces of batter and bake for 40-45 minutes.
  • Serve.
